The guide

OCvoice, in detail.

For the one who reads everything before saying yes: how it works and is set up, what it is for, what it does not do, how it compares with the alternatives, the questions churches ask, and the price.

How it works

From your audio to their language.

  1. 01

    Connect your audio.

Open OCvoice on the church’s computer and select audio from the mixer or a microphone.

  2. 02

Choose languages and share the QR code.

Set up the church’s languages and names. Your permanent link and QR code make the service easy to find.

  3. 03

    Start. Everyone can listen.

Listeners choose their language on their phone. Your technician can also route translated audio to existing receivers.

The craft

Made for how a service really sounds.

Og så mindede han os om løftet: “I am with you always” — helt til verdens ende.

Catches the switch to English — mid-sentence

Danish sermons drift into English all the time: a quote, a song line, a verse. The spoken language is detected as it changes, so no one has to switch anything.

Hears the difference between song and sermon

When the band plays, translation can rest and pick up again at the first spoken word. You choose how it behaves.

Setup

Three steps, once.

  1. 01

    Describe your church.

Create an account, choose the languages you want to offer and enter the names that must never be translated.

  2. 02

    Connect the sound.

Open the broadcast page in a browser on the church computer. It takes the sound from your sound desk or a microphone.

  3. 03

    Put up the QR code.

Listeners open your church's own address, ocvoice.dk/your-church, choose a language and listen.

The parts a church cares about.

Your names stay yours.
The names you enter for your church, pastors and town help the translation recognise and preserve them.
Song is your choice.
Song is detected automatically. You choose whether translation rests during worship or carries on.
Your sound system, used.
Your technician can route one clean feed per language into the mixer, a soundcard or virtual channels, and on to the FM receivers and headsets you already own.

What it is for

One service, every language in the room.

The Sunday service
Everything said into the microphone, from the sermon to the readings and the notices, translated as it is spoken.
Several languages at once
Each listener picks their own language, and a church can offer many in the same service.
Guests and regulars
A guest scans the QR code and listens, with nothing to install. Regulars add your church's page to their home screen and open it again next Sunday.
Members without a smartphone
Your technician can send each language to the FM receivers or headsets you already own.
Beyond Sunday
It is built for churches and worship. For a conference or another event, ask us and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.

Plainly said

What it is not.

Not an interpreter.
The translation is an aid, not a certified rendering, and it makes mistakes. We publish no accuracy percentage.
Not instant.
The translation follows shortly behind the speaker. You can hear how far in the demo.
It doesn't know your names by itself.
Enter the names of your church, pastors and places once to help the translation recognise and preserve them.
Still in beta.
We are still building it, together with the churches that use it.

When OCvoice is not the right choice

Honesty cuts both ways. We would rather tell you now than after you've signed up:

  • If your whole congregation shares one language and you host an occasional single guest, a bilingual member sitting beside them beats any technology.
  • If you have one large language community and a gifted interpreter who knows your church, keep them. Technology complements that relationship; it doesn't replace it. OCvoice can serve the other languages in the room.
  • If your service is fully liturgical with fixed, pre-translated texts, printed booklets may serve you better than live translation.

Compared with the alternatives

Choosing church translation: an honest guide

There are four real ways to bring every language into your service. Here is what each one is good at, what it costs — and where we are not the right choice.

Human interpreters

The gold standard for a single, large language community — a person who knows your church, your theology and your people.

  • +Best-in-class nuance on the hardest passages
  • +A relationship, not just a service
  • −One language per interpreter, every single Sunday
  • −Availability varies — sickness, holidays, fatigue
  • −Regular paid coverage is a real monthly cost

FM interpretation equipment

Transmitter-and-receiver systems, familiar from conference halls — reliable, and gentle on members who don't use smartphones.

  • +Rock-solid, no phones needed
  • +Works for hearing support too
  • −It only carries sound — you still need an interpreter per language
  • −Hardware cost per channel and per listener

Already own FM receivers? They keep working with OCvoice — your technician feeds our translated audio straight into the transmitter.

Generic translation apps

Free phone apps built for conversations and travel. Tempting price — but not built for a sermon.

  • +Free or nearly free
  • +Fine for one-on-one chats after the service
  • −Built for short conversations, not a whole sermon
  • −Every phone listens and guesses on its own — no shared, controlled feed
  • −No worship handling, no subtitles feed, no soundboard route

Purpose-built church translation

Services built specifically for worship — OCvoice is one, and honest comparison shopping is healthy. Compare on the things that actually differ:

  • →Does it keep your names (church, pastors, places) intact?
  • →Is pricing per use with all features included, or tiers and upsells?
  • →Phones only, or also your existing FM receivers and soundboard?
  • →Can you hear a real, unedited demo before paying?

Eight questions to ask any vendor — including us

Take this list into every sales conversation. We've answered each one for ourselves, honestly.

  1. 1

Are your church's names kept intact in every language?

Ours: enter the names of your church, pastors and town to help the translation recognise and preserve them.

  2. 2

    What happens during worship music?

Ours: song is detected automatically, and you choose whether translation rests or continues.

  3. 3

What happens when the preacher switches language mid-sentence?

Ours: the spoken language is detected as it changes, including English inside a Danish sentence.

  4. 4

Does it work with the FM receivers and headsets we already own?

Ours: yes — your technician routes the translated feed into your existing equipment.

  5. 5

What does a normal month actually cost, all fees included?

Ours: pay per hour of use, no subscription. The calculator on the pricing page shows the full math for your church.

  6. 6

Do listeners need an app or an account?

Ours: no. Scan a QR code, pick a language, listen.

  7. 7

Where does our data go, and is it GDPR-compliant?

Ours: Danish company, database in the EU, session data deleted within 12 months of the service, with the purpose stated, no listener accounts. Details in the privacy policy.

  8. 8

Can we hear a real, unedited demo before deciding?

Ours: yes. The front-page demo is an unedited recording, mistakes included.

Compare us against anyone

Start with the real demo on the front page, then check the pricing calculator. If another option serves your church better, we genuinely wish you well.

Privacy

Listeners stay anonymous.

Listeners need no account and give us no name or email. The service audio, transcripts and translations are kept for up to 12 months after the service, for quality assurance, improvement and traceability, and then deleted. The database is in the EU; the services that recognise and translate the speech, some of them in the USA, are named in the policy.

Questions and answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How does OCvoice work?+

A browser on the church's computer listens to the service, recognises the speech as it is spoken and translates it into the languages your listeners choose. Listeners scan a QR code and get subtitles and a natural voice on their own phone, shortly behind the speaker. No app is needed.

  • Listen along on your phone
What languages are supported?+

OCvoice supports 60 languages, including Arabic, Farsi, Ukrainian, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Polish, Turkish, and many more. This includes right-to-left languages like Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew, and Urdu with proper RTL layout.

Do members need to install an app?+

No. OCvoice works as a mobile website. Congregants scan a QR code or visit your church's address (e.g. ocvoice.dk/your-church), pick their language and start listening. It runs in the browser on iPhone and Android phones, tablets and computers.

  • Listen along on your phone
  • Supported browsers for broadcasting
How good is the translation of a sermon?+

Good, but not perfect, and we won't put an invented percentage on it. Quality depends on the sound, the speaker's pace and the language. The names you enter for your church, pastors and town help the translation recognise and preserve them. OCvoice is not a human interpreter and will occasionally mishear a word. Hear the unedited demo on the front page and judge for yourself.

  • Pick and set up the right microphone
  • Get sound from your mixer into OCvoice
How much does it cost?+

Pay for actual active translation time, including audio feeds you activate. Speech recognition, subtitles and audio are included. Selecting languages alone costs nothing.

Can we replace our FM receiver system?+

Yes, or keep it. Listeners can use their own phones and headphones, so there are no receivers to buy or maintain, and they get subtitles as well as audio. If you want to keep your FM or wired headphone system, your technician can feed any translated language into it.

Does it work with headphones?+

Yes. Listeners can use any Bluetooth headphones, wired earbuds, or just their phone speaker. The audio plays directly from the browser — no app needed.

  • Listen along on your phone
Is our congregation's data private?+

Yes. OCvoice is built by OCplan ApS, a Danish company subject to the EU GDPR. Our database is hosted in Ireland (EU). Transcripts, translations and audio are kept for up to 12 months after the service, for quality assurance, improving the service and traceability, and then deleted; the privacy policy explains this along with your right to object. For processing we use a small number of specialist providers, all under GDPR data processing agreements, and the privacy policy lists each one. Listeners need no account and provide no name or email.

What happens if the internet goes down?+

OCvoice requires an internet connection to process speech and translations in real time. If connectivity is briefly interrupted, the system reconnects automatically when the connection is restored. We recommend a stable Wi-Fi or wired connection for the broadcaster device.

  • Unstable connection
Can multiple languages run simultaneously?+

Yes. Each listener picks their own language, and a church can offer many languages in the same service. You pay per hour for each language you run.

  • Listen along on your phone
Can we use it for events outside church?+

OCvoice is built for churches and worship services. If you want to use it for a conference or another event, contact us and we'll tell you honestly whether it fits.

How do we get started?+

Create an account at ocvoice.dk. A guided setup takes you through your account, your church profile and your default languages, and then you can start your first session.

  • Pick and set up the right microphone
  • Get sound from your mixer into OCvoice
  • Supported browsers for broadcasting
  • Checklist for your first events
  • Didn't receive your sign-in email?
How does the pricing work?+

Pay for actual active translation time, including audio feeds you activate. Speech recognition, subtitles and audio are included. Selecting languages alone costs nothing.

Can listeners save our church page for next time?+

Yes — and we recommend it for regulars. On the phone where they opened your church link, they can add it to the home screen: on iPhone tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen"; on Android tap the ⋮ menu, then "Add to Home screen". The saved icon is named after your church and reopens your page in a single tap — no QR code and no typing. From there it's the usual one tap to pick a language and join the live service.
